Altering your Photos! We are taking a break from the camera and computer for a few days! We will have three different approaches to altering your photos that you have taken this year. You will go ahead and print the first assignment today. You should also prepare the 2nd two assignments. You should have them ready for printing so we can print them immediately following the completion of the first assignment.
#1 Stitching Your Photo- 2 PHOTOS/SAVE TO STITCHING FOLDER IN YOUR CLASS PERIOD Selecting your Photos for Stitching: Choose photos that you think will work well for this assignment. You can stitch directly over lines or shapes that are already present in the photo-like stitches on a softball or a pattern on a dress, or you can add stitching to ehance the photoin your own way- like adding patterns to a shirt, stitch lines onto a leaf to imitate viens. There is no editing needed to the photos unless you need to make basic changes (levels, crop, etc...). CHOOSE 2 PHOTOS FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT 1. In Photoshop, crop to 5x7 (once you've selected the crop option, right click and choose 5x7) 2. Do any basic editing that is necessary (crop, levels, etc...) 3. Name the files with your first and last name and Save as a Jpeg. (Ex. Joe Smith dog, Joe Smith leaves) 4. Copy each file into the STITCHING FOLDER WITH YOUR PERIOD #
#2 Hand Coloring- 2 photos/SAVE TO HAND COLORING IN YOUR PERIOD # What did artist do before Photoshop to selectively color? They painted directly onto a black and white photograph! There are a lot of different methods for this, and one isn't necessarily better than another. We are going to print our photos onto a matte paper, and then hand paint selected areas with watercolors or watercolor pencils. 1. Choose2 photos that you would like to hand color. 2. In Photoshop, crop to 5x7 (once you've selected the crop option, right click and choose 5x7) 3. turn your photos black and white. 4. Save both as a Jpeg with your first and last name. 5. Copy both photos into the HAND COLORING PERIOD# file in My Documents.
#3 Transferring Your Photo to a Tile- ONE photo/ Save to DECAL P# For this project, we will be printing onto decal paper. The decal with go into a water bath, and then you will transfer it to a tile (or alternate surface that you bring in). 1. Choose ONE photo that you would like to print to the decal paper. 2. Open in Photoshop and crop it square. To do this: Choose the crop tool. Right click and choose 1x1 Square. 3. Make any other editing as needed. Save as a Jpeg as your first and last name 4. Go to the Documents folder and copy your photo into the DECALPERIOD# (whichever period you are in) folder. I will print these all later.
