Composition is the arrangement of the objects in the photo you are taking. There are some general guidelines to setting up a good composition

Good Compositional Tips:
Rule of Thirds: The rule of thirds involves mentally dividing up your image using 2 horizontal lines and 2 vertical lines, as shown below. You then position the important elements in your scene along those lines, or at the points where they meet. More information Here |
Close up/Fill the frame (little to no background) zoom in so that our focus can only be on what is filling the frame. Leave little to no background in the photo.

Leading Lines: The compositional technique of "leading lines" is one where the are lines, or a series of lines, that draw the viewer's eye back to a point in the photo. Sometimes these lines direct the eye towards an important subject in the photo.
